October 29, 2020. Do I look mournful? I feel mournful. It’s not my fault that I’m 6’ tall on my hind legs and my landlady persists in leaving treats on the kitchen counter. Chicken left out to thaw, freshly sliced bread or cheese, who can resist? It looked just like chicken, left within easy reach of my snout. I got it all the way to my favorite stolen-snack-eating spot before I realized it was zucchini. I’m mournful.
