Update for distant friends and family: as this situation evolves and the media posts updates, it’s difficult to get a fix on where the danger lies if you're not familiar with the area. So unless you hear or read the words Cloverdale, Pocket Fire, Geyserville or Hopland, assume my landlady and I are safe and in for the night. If we’re told to evacuate, my landlady will dress me in my raincoat with hood, go north to the evacuation site and tell them I’m her Hungarian grandmother. (No dogs allowed.)
